Legal Basis for Vietnam E-Visa Entry Points Expansion

The newly approved border gates supplement Article 2 of Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP (August 14, 2023), which regulates:

  • Eligible nationalities for Vietnam’s e-Visa program

  • Approved Vietnam e-visa entry points allowing entry and exit

Previously, Vietnam allowed e-Visa entry through 42 ports nationwide.

With the addition of 41 new border gates, the total number of Vietnam e-visa entry points has increased significantly, especially at land borders and seaports.

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the expansion of Vietnam e-Visa entry points is part of the country’s broader strategy to improve international accessibility and support tourism growth across multiple regions.

I. New Airports Allowing Vietnam E-Visa Entry

The following international airports are newly approved Vietnam e-visa entry points (applicable once officially operational where noted):

Typically, it takes 3 working days for the Vietnam Immigration Department to process your e-visa application. However, the processing time may be longer (up to 15 days) due to certain requirements from the Immigration Department, a large number of applicants, or public holidays. No, having a different port of entry from the one specified in your Vietnam E-visa is not a problem.

With a Vietnam E-visa, you are allowed to enter and exit through any of the 42 designated international checkpoints, including airports, seaports, and land border gates. The port of entry specified during your application is mainly for processing purposes and does not restrict you from entering through another port.

However, it's important to note that you should inform the immigration authorities if your port of entry has changed, but this is typically not an issue as long as you're entering through one of the approved checkpoints.
